Link your design to a custom domain

Requirements

You must own your domain, usually purchased from a domain registrar. There are many domain registrars, but examples include: Namecheap, GoDaddy, Squarespace, Cloudflare, etc.

Deployment Process

1. Open the Deploy panel in Magic Patterns

   Generate a design and click on the Deploy button at the top of the editor.

   
2. Configure DNS Records

   On your DNS provider (GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc), add the following A record. Usually editing these fields is under “DNS Management” or “Advanced DNS”

   You will have to delete all other A Records if they exist.

   Note: In some registrars (like Wix), ”@” is inputted as ” ” (a.k.a. nothing or a blank space).

   Optional: If you want to use a CNAME record or are using a subdomain, you can use the following:

   CNAME	www	magicpatterns.dev

3. Enter your domain and wait for DNS propagation

   After adding your DNS records enter your domain name on Magic Patterns (e.g., acme.com) and click “I have added DNS records”.

   You can check your DNS records here. Make sure no other A Records exist if you are using the A record method. https://www.whatsmydns.net/

   
4. Manage your deployment

   Once verified, you can manage your deployment settings by clicking on the Deploy button again with Magic Patterns.

   From here, you can also publish another version of your design.

   Upgrade to an active plan to remove the “Built with Magic Patterns” badge.

You can add a title, preview image, favicon, or description by clicking on the dropdown which will display advanced options.

How do I disconnect my custom domain?

You can disconnect your custom domain by clicking on the dropdown and then “Disconnect” button in the Deploy panel.

Will my site have HTTPS?

Yes! We automatically provision SSL certificates for all custom domains to ensure your site is secure.

How do I remove the 'Built with Magic Patterns' badge?

Upgrade to an active plan to remove the “Built with Magic Patterns” badge.

How long does DNS propagation take?

DNS propagation typically takes between 30 minutes and 48 hours, depending on your DNS provider and various internet factors. Most domains are verified within a few hours.

Why am I still seeing the old version of my site?

Your browser is likely caching the old version of your site. Try clearing your cache or opening it in incognito mode to see the latest updates.
